Pre-heat your oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Line the cupcake moulds with paper cupcake liners to prepare them for baking.
In a mixing bowl, sift together the maida, baking powder, cocoa powder, and sugar. Ensure that the ingredients are well combined and free of lumps.
To the dry mixture, add softened butter, vanilla essence, coffee paste, and milk. Mix well until a smooth and consistent batter forms, free from any lumps.
Carefully pour the prepared batter into the lined cupcake moulds. Place them in the pre-heated oven and bake at 180 degrees Celsius for approximately 15-20 minutes or until they are fully cooked.
To check if the cupcakes are done, insert a toothpick into the center. If it comes out clean, the cupcakes are ready. Remove them from the oven and let them cool completely before frosting.
Once the cupcakes are entirely cooled, you can frost them using your choice of frosting. For this recipe, coffee cream cheese frosting has been recommended, but you can also use mascarpone cheese with a shot of whiskey or coffee buttercream.
